| You may not have noticed, but if you've been taking your notes in class and reviewing them diligently, you should be floored to see our very first Petite Sirah from Sonoma County. Yup. The first one. If you're thinking, "Hey? What about that '97 that was crazy amazing?" History majors: that '97 was actually Napa fruit (that was our first Napa wine, for you teacher's pets). Since then, all our Petite Sirah has been Sierra Foothills. Now pay attention, class: while they've been great wines, none of 'em were the valedictorian that this scholar-of-flavor Sonoma County Petite is. If you know anyting about Petite Sirah, you know that it keeps its nose in the books of blackberry, and this one is no different. This Petite dusts hints of floral and earth tones like the class clown cleaning chalk erasers. On the palate, it's an honor roll line up of blackberry cobbler, vanilla and some toasty French oak. And all good students have endurance for a final exam, and this Petite has the tannin structure and balance that lets you know it's here for the long haul. Class dismissed! |
